Heidi For Homer ("we," "us," "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use our website, how we use it, and what choices you have.

Who we are

Heidi For Homer is the campaign committee for Heidi Pacella's 2027 nonpartisan campaign for Mayor of Homer Glen, Illinois. A copy of our report filed with the State Board of Elections is (or will be) available on the Board's official website (www.elections.il.gov) or for purchase from the State Board of Elections, Springfield, Illinois.

What we collect

We collect information you choose to give us through forms on this site, including:

  • Email address (newsletter signup, popup, footer, contact form, pledge, volunteer signup)
  • Name (contact form, volunteer signup, yard sign request, pledge)
  • Phone number (optional, for volunteer coordination, yard sign delivery, and SMS opt-in)
  • Mailing address (yard sign delivery only)
  • ZIP code and neighborhood (volunteer signup, pledge)
  • Your message or notes (when you submit a form)
  • Volunteer interests and availability

We also automatically collect basic technical information that any web server logs — your IP address, browser type, and the pages you visit — for security and to improve the site.

Text messaging (SMS)

If you opt in by checking the SMS box on our Pledge form and verifying your number with a one-time code, you will receive text messages from Heidi For Homer. These may include:

  • Election day reminders
  • Event invitations and meet-and-greet notices
  • Volunteer coordination (if you've signed up to volunteer)

Frequency: typically 1-4 messages per month, with more frequent reminders in the two weeks before Election Day. Message and data rates may apply per your mobile carrier. You may reply STOP at any time to unsubscribe, or HELP for help. Standard TCPA consent applies — you must explicitly check the SMS box AND complete the phone verification step before any messages are sent. Consent is not a condition of donating, volunteering, or any other interaction with the campaign.

We do not share or sell your mobile phone number or SMS opt-in information with any third parties or affiliates for their marketing purposes. Your number and text-messaging consent are used solely to send the messages described above, and are never shared with third parties for promotional purposes.

How we use it

We use the information you give us to:

  • Send you campaign updates, event invitations, and election day reminders
  • Coordinate volunteer activities you've signed up for
  • Deliver a yard sign to your address (if you've requested one)
  • Respond to messages you send us
  • Comply with Illinois campaign finance reporting requirements

Who we share it with

We do not sell your information or rent our email list to anyone. We share information only with:

  • Service providers who help us run the campaign — our website host (AWS), our email-sending service (Amazon SES), our SMS provider (Telnyx), and our database. These providers only see the information they need to perform their services.
  • Government authorities if required by law, court order, or to comply with Illinois campaign finance disclosure rules.

Your choices

  • Unsubscribe at any time. Every campaign email has an unsubscribe link at the bottom.
  • Request deletion. Email us at heidi@heidiforhomer.com and we'll remove your information from our active databases within a reasonable time.
  • Update your info. Reply to any campaign email or email us directly.

Cookies and tracking

This site uses browser storage for two things:

  • Remembering your popup and cookie choices so we don't show the email signup or cookie banner on every visit.
  • Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-JMQSLGTR73) to understand which pages visitors find useful. We have IP anonymization turned on, Google Signals turned off, and we do not share data with Google's advertising products. We also honor the browser "Do Not Track" setting — if it's on, no analytics page-view is sent.

If you don't want Google Analytics tracking your browser, you can opt out site-wide by installing the official Google Analytics opt-out add-on, or enable your browser's "Do Not Track" setting (we respect it). You can also disable JavaScript for this site in your browser settings, which prevents all client-side analytics.

Children's privacy

This site is intended for adult voters and residents of Homer Glen. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted information to us, please email heidi@heidiforhomer.com and we will delete it.

Your data rights

Regardless of which state you live in, you have the right to:

  • Know what we have. Email us and we'll send you a copy of the information associated with your email address or phone number.
  • Correct it. If something we have is wrong (a misspelled name, old phone number, etc.), tell us and we'll update it.
  • Delete it. Email us and we'll remove your information from our active databases within 30 days. Some records (campaign finance disclosures filed with the State) may need to be retained as required by law.
  • Opt out of marketing. Unsubscribe from email or reply STOP to SMS at any time.
  • Not be discriminated against. We won't deny services, deliver lower-quality content, or change pricing because you exercised any of these rights.

To make any of these requests, email dominic@heidiforhomer.com (campaign treasurer). We do not require an account to submit a request, but we may ask you to verify your identity (e.g., respond from the email address on file) before we act on it.

If you live in California, this section satisfies our basic obligations under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). If you live in Illinois, it satisfies the Illinois Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA). We do not sell personal information to anyone, anywhere.

Security

We use industry-standard practices to protect your information: HTTPS encryption for the site, secure password hashing for any account access, two-factor authentication for administrator accounts, and access controls on our database. No website is 100% secure, but we take this seriously.

Changes to this policy

If we materially change how we handle your information, we'll update this page and revise the "Last updated" date above. Significant changes will also be announced via campaign email.
